Laser skin resurfacing options in Korea - Fraxel vs Picosure vs CO2?
I am planning to get laser treatment for my overall skin texture and mild scarring in Korea. There are so many laser options and I am confused about which would be best for me. I have heard of Fraxel, Picosure, CO2 laser, and many others. Can someone explain the differences and which might be best for skin texture improvement? I have Asian skin (Fitzpatrick type IV) so I am worried about hyperpigmentation risks. Which lasers are safest for darker skin tones? Also, what is the typical downtime for each? I need to understand this before I plan my trip.

Quick guide: CO2 is the most powerful (best for deeper texture/scarring) but has the most downtime and the highest pigmentation risk on darker skin; Fraxel (non-ablative fractional) is gentler with moderate downtime and a strong safety record on Asian skin; PicoSure/pico lasers are lowest-downtime and good for tone, mild texture, and pigment, often needing more sessions. For Fitzpatrick IV, many Korean clinics favor non-ablative fractional or pico devices at conservative settings to minimize hyperpigmentation, sometimes layered over several visits rather than one aggressive CO2 pass. Downtime ranges from ~1 day (pico) to 5–7 days (CO2). Diligent sunscreen and a short pigment-suppressing regimen afterward are key on your skin tone.
